  • Edel McMahon

    Edel McMahon

    Professional Rugby Player

    Headline Keynote Speaker

    Edel McMahon is an Irish international rugby player, biochemist and medical diagnostic engineer from Kilmihil, Co. Clare. Originally a Gaelic footballer, Edel discovered rugby while studying Biochemistry at NUI Galway and went on to play for NUIG, Galwegians and Connacht before making her Ireland debut in 2018. She was the first uncapped player, playing in the first ever women’s Barbarians team in 2017.

    Alongside her rugby career, Edel has built a career in the medical field working as a laboratory scientist in Equine Diagnostics and later moving into application and field service engineering, combining her scientific background with technical problem-solving and customer-facing experience. Previously playing for Wasps and Exeter Chiefs, Edel has won 36 Ireland caps including the infamous win against World Champions New Zealand in 2024.

    In 2023, Edel became co-captain of the Ireland Women’s teams and went on to lead at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025. Her career across science, engineering, and elite sport has shaped her perspective on leadership, teamwork, resilience, performance and technology.

    Mark Whiteley

    Sales Director at Asecos

    Mark Whiteley has nearly 15 years’ experience with asecos and more than 30 years in occupational health and safety. Mark specialises in helping organisations understand and comply with DSEAR and other hazardous-substance legislation.

    As Sales Director for Asecos UK & Ireland, Mark has trained thousands of professionals across manufacturing, laboratories, education, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, engineering, local authorities and emergency services. His practical presentations cover chemical compatibility and segregation, fire-resistant storage, lithium-ion battery safety, risk assessment and best practice.

    Combining legislative knowledge, technical expertise and real-life case studies, Mark helps organisations turn complex requirements into practical solutions that improve compliance and workplace safety.

  • Dubhaltach Mac Lochlainn

    Dubhaltach Mac Lochlainn

    Head of National Metrology Laboratory, NSAI.

    Dubhaltach Mac Lochlainn is Head of the NSAI, Ireland’s National Metrology Institute. He leads Ireland’s national measurement infrastructure, supporting industry, innovation, trade, and regulation through internationally recognised measurement standards and services. He is actively involved in European metrology research and policy initiatives and is a strong advocate for the role of measurement science in enabling quality, sustainability, digitalisation, and technological innovation.

    Dubhaltach holds science and engineering qualifications from University of Galway, Atlantic Technological University, Technological University of Dublin and Dublin City University. He has worked in measurement and calibration roles for 25 years, specialising in temperature and humidity measurement. He has delivered training and consultancy on temperature mapping in his roles within the National Metrology Laboratory for over 10 years to medical device, pharmaceutical and laboratory staff.

  • Dulan Liyanage

    Dulan Liyanage

    Business Development Manager, Impact Laboratories/My Green Lab

    Dulan Liyanage is the ACT Business Development Manager for Impact Laboratories, a subsidiary of the 501c3 non-profit organization, My Green Lab. In his role, he supports the outreach and expansion of the ACT Ecolabel Program to market leading lab product manufacturers. He is also engaged in the Irish Green Labs community, tackling sustainable procurement at a national level.

    Throughout his career, Dulan has supported manufacturers with solutions, as well as researched in academic labs throughout his Masters in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Manchester. Dulan is an accomplished and qualified Public Speaker, with LAMDA Qualifications, and many talks representing My Green Lab and Impact Laboratories.

    Dulan is an advocate for sustainable science and strives to make an industry-wide impact on our Environmental Footprints, by driving cumulatively large change through combined individual action.
